After two seasons at Houston going 22-4 including a 2015 Peach Bowl Championship, the hottest coach in the Group of Five is getting paid.
ESPN, CBS, Coaching Scoop and everyone else is running the story. Tom Herman will be the next head coach of the Texas Longhorns.
Everything happened fast after Texas announced they parted ways with Charlie Strong just a couple hours ago. LSU has called a presser to presumably announce they’re keeping Ed Orgeron, the other big player in the Herman sweepstakes.
Herman was THE name in power conference coaching searches for over a year. Houston bumped Herman’s salary to over $3 million after the 12-1 record in 2015, including an American Athletic Conference Championship and beating Florida State in the Peach Bowl.
No official announcement has come from either Texas or Houston yet, but expect one from each before the day ends.
